 Volunteer Appreciation Week

We celebrate our volunteers during the week of April 22 to April 26.  Treats will be in the staffroom that entire week for our volunteers and we finish the week by hosting a coffee/muffin time in the library on Friday, April 26^th from 8:00 to 8:45.  Please see Barb if you would like to help.  We would love to have everyone stop by on Friday to thank our volunteers.

Our last SOM luncheon will be on Friday, May 3^rd.  Please provide names and reasons for receiving recognition to Barb no later than noon, Wednesday, April 24.  This will be the last luncheon for the school year.

Remember ½ cup Thumbs up!  

Just a reminder!!!

1.   The food service cashier asks the first student in each classroom, "who is supervising your class today in the lunch line?" and then hands that adult the “½ cup = Thumbs Up” sign.

2.   Students go through the lines, exactly as they've always done. However, students are instructed to walk by the supervising adult (the one holding the sign) after they have gone through the salad bar, on their way back to the classroom.

3.   Supervising adult gives each student a "thumbs-up" if the student has the required, 1/2 cup of fruit or veggie on his/her meal tray. If not, the student is sent back to the salad bar or to the food service cashier. When the supervising adult leaves with their students, they pass the sign back to the food service cashier.

4.   If unsupervised students come into the meal service area, then the food service cashier holds/posts the ½ cup = Thumbs up sign. Students are required to return to the cashier station after they have gone through the salad bar. The food service cashier checks the students’ trays. Note: This may create slow service lines and problematic flow in some schools; however it fulfills the USDA regulatory requirement.

Really appreciating all the help from staff on the Reading and Math Night!  I know it’s been said before, but it was an amazing night for parents, students and staff.  Great to see so many participate and have such an enjoyable time.

Nurse’s office visits

We are seeing a lot of the same students coming in to the nurse’s office repeatedly.  Please remember if student is not “bleeding or barfing” to have them rest their head on their desk for ten minutes before sending them to the nurse.  Reminder, our nurse is here on Tuesdays and we have a health assistant on Fridays, however, the aforementioned still applies.

Please, please, please send or email a copy of any correspondence you are sending home with students to the office. We value professionalism and it helps to know what is going on in the building.

Remember to report any safety concerns that you have to our safety committee so we can make sure to address as soon as possible.

Our Classified Staff is Sweet!   (Let’s make it GREAT!)

1.  Each grade level will be responsible for one day of the week to give these 19 wonderful people a little treat or note of thanks in their mailboxes.  It can be a purchased item with a note attached or something free like a card/homemade bookmark/saying.  The important thing is that each day they are recognized for their dedication to our school. 

2.  Thursday:  A Day of Sweets (and Snacks).  Due to the various schedules of our classified staff, I thought it would be great to be able to snack throughout the entire day on appetizer-type foods and sweet treats.  This would allow for people to pop in and out as their schedules allow. 

Here is who is responsible for each day of the week:

    Monday:  Kinder and First and Alyssa
    Tuesday:  2nd and 3rd and Rachel
    Wednesday:  4th and Jason and Traci
    Thursday:  Jill, Donna and Kathy and Tina

A note from ITC

If you show withdrawn students on your TAC Report Card List...The students should fall off of their TAC Report Card List. However, we are aware of a problem of inactive students showing up on the Grid View in TAC when entering report cards. When the teacher accesses the competency entry by List, the inactive students do not show up. Until we have a resolution from the vendor, the teacher will have to ignore those inactive students when viewing by Grid. If an inactive student is showing up on both the Grid and the List please have the teacher fill out a HelpCenter request with the student ids so we can correct them.

Donations for Math/Reading Night

It’s not too late to donate to the baskets for Math/Reading Night.  Please give them to Rachel.

 

Bus Drills

Our emergency exit drills for the second semester will be held in March.  As a reminder, students will be expected to exit from one of the emergency exits toward the back of the bus. They will be required to sit down before jumping from the door. Our primary focus will be the safety of each student, so the speed in which the students exit will not be a factor.

Our bus drivers will be conducting the drills as they arrive in the AM to drop students off at school. Only students who ride the bus to school will be receiving the information and participating in the drill. The drivers will conduct the drill in a timely manner and the impact with the beginning of school should be minimal.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could have some of your staff outside to support and assist our drivers during the exit drill procedure
