Please advise!
If you become ill at work or need to call in a substitute during the work day, please make sure you call the office so we know someone is coming.

Classified Comp Time
Please remember to bring your Classified Comp Time sheets with you to meetings and have signed before you leave.

Snack Friday
There has been a lot of trash being left behind on the playground on Snack Friday.  A reminder will be in morning announcements for students to make sure to clean up after themselves or they will lose the privilege the next Friday.

Student Art
We have some open space on my wall in the office that would be a great place to display some student work.  If you have some that you would like to loan, please send to the office.  Make sure it is labeled with name and class so we can return to the rightful owner.

Family List
You will be receiving an email soon with a Family List and explanation how to use attached.

Cold Weather
Please remember to keep all hallway doors closed.

Attendance
Students that come in to class after the bell need to be sent to the office for a tardy slip.  Once they have checked in, we make the adjustment to the attendance database.

Please note, if you have marked a student absent in error, you will need to correct it as soon as possible.  You return to your attendance and mark “P” so that it cancels out the Unexcused absence.  Please do this immediately.  If you do not, the automated system will call the parent even if we have already called them and assured them the student is in school.  We, the office, can not fix this as it is part of an audit item that is reviewed annually.

Tardy Slips/Cook’s Choice Slips
Please remember to recycle and return to the office.

Staff (Reminder)
Did you know that you can let the Sub Office know your list of preferred substitutes to add to your Substitute System Profile for emergency substitute calling?  An email to Melissa Hooker can set you up with your top preferred subs.  When you have a sub that is great, send Melissa Hooker the request so she can get it set up right away.

Medication at School (This will be in Dec. school newsletter)
Please note that per district policy, students are not allowed to bring medication (cough/throat drops included) to school without proper documentation.  As noted in the Puyallup School District policy "If a student must receive prescribed or non-prescribed oral medication from an authorized staff member, the parent must submit a written authorization accompanied by a written request from a licensed health professional prescribing within the scope of his or her prescriptive authority". Forms are available in the nurse's office.  If proper documentation is not submitted, parent/guardian is welcome to come during the school day to dispense needed medications (cough/throat drops, etc.).

Labeling of Clothing - School-wide Campaign
Notices going home in Thursday folders, please check your box this afternoon for flyer. Please make sure you inform the office if you receive a note from parent stating they do not want their child's clothing labeled.

We will be doing a check on all jackets, hats, gloves and scarves starting next week, Wednesday, November 23rd to ensure they are all properly labeled with the owner's name.  If they are not, we would be happy to do this for you.  If you would prefer we not do this, please send a note before next Wed to your child's teacher stating you do not want us to label your child's clothing with his/her name.

Substitute Staff
Did you know that you can let the Sub Office know your list of preferred substitutes to add to your Substitute System Profile for emergency substitute calling?  An email to Melissa Hooker can set you up with your top preferred subs.

Did you know that you should always let Laura know if you have concerns regarding your substitute?  There are forms for the certificated staff in the notebooks that subs check out, however, she would like to know about classified, too.

Field Trip Folder
Each teacher will be receiving a Field Trip Folder that contains the process for planning field trips, master forms, and all the necessary items to prepare for field trips.  They will be handed out at Thursday’s staff meeting.  Please remember that material for a field trip is time sensitive and must be planned in advance.  Make sure you have cleared field trips (Location/Destination) with Laura before talking with students and/or parents.

In addition, please remember to have a plan in advance regarding student discipline and field trips.  A field trip is a continuation of learning and withholding this opportunity for discipline needs to be planned in advance, involving parent and student.

Games and Books
We are seeking donations of games and books to add to our “Rainy Day Activities” when indoor recess occurs.  Please bring to the office.

Winter Weather
It’s that time of year again when we need to keep all exterior doors closed.  Please make sure that all Breeze way and Hall doors are kept closed.

Binders
Please help yourself to the gently used binders that are on the workroom table.  These were donated to us from Franscian Health Care.

Staff Lounge
Please remember to do your part in keeping our staff room clean.  The sink is just for washing dishes and utensils, not for display of dirty dishes.

Cold and Flu Season
If you are feeling sick and think you need a substitute to cover for you, please input your request in the evening as we have a better chance to get coverage than if you wait and input in the morning.

Copier
Our copier in the workroom has had some issues lately and it appears that the opening and closing of the drawer to input paper is causing it to age quickly.  Can you please use the bypass tray only as it will breakdown and jam less?  Robyn and I would be more than happy to show you how to do a double-sided copy with out having to open the paper drawer.  Also, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO FIX THE MACHINE YOURSELF.  We will assist at any time if the machine jams or appears not to be working.  We just need to know.

Printer Courtesy
Ever wonder where that document goes when you hit print and it isn’t where you thought it would be?  At the bottom right hand corner of the computer you are using, a white pop-up shows what printer your document was sent to.  You need to pick up document(s) right away because if you don’t and the printer has ran out of paper, the next person that loads the printer gets your document printed on their paper.  (If you don’t have this pop-up, your computer has not been reimaged.  If you would like it reimaged, provide me with your computer id/bar code and room number and I will request a ticket from ITC.)

Pink Delivery Slips
If you have a pink delivery slip, you can put it back in its holder by the mailboxes and claim your delivery at the front office.  We don’t need to see the slip and it saves us 42 steps a day =)!

Photo/Name
Last week, I sent a list to each teacher that has a student(s) that parents requested not be photographed or names published.  Please check with the office or with your list prior to adding student’s name or photo to any publishing (newsletters included).

Kitchen Duty
Ever wonder who washes that cup or fork that you put in the sink on Monday to soak and then forget?  Please wash your utensils and dishes while you are at the sink.  The dish washing fairy doesn’t visit very often!

Daylight Savings Time
It ends November 6, 2011 at 2:00 AM.  Fall back in to bed and enjoy one extra hour of sleep!
