Inventory

I was asked to pass on a “Thank You” from the inventory crew for your prepping the rooms so well as it made the inventory go very smooth.

Lost and Found

It continues to overflow!  Please have your students check it frequently to retrieve their belongings.  It would be great if you could put in your newsletter and on your Edline.

Field Trip Documents

Please turn in the Field Trip folders that were given to you a few years ago.  The documents you need for field trips can be found on the Y drive, SPI, Faculty, Staff Resources, Field trips.

EDLINE Sign-up

What place is your classroom in for the competition?  We really have improved our percentage of students and parents that have signed up, but imagine if we motivated parents to get activated.  It’s a great tool that we will continue to use to get information to our parents and community.

Survey

Don’t’ forget to check out the link to the survey regarding the Instructional Framework.  The district would like you to complete it again to provide feedback about this year.  Your feedback is important in guiding future professional development needs at both the building and district levels.

The survey will close at the end of the day on May 16.   You must be Sign In to view/access the survey.    https://www.edline.net/pages/Puyallup_School_District/Departments/Instruction___Learning__new_/Calendar/PSD_Instructional_Framework-Le

Class Picture Day

We will be having group photos (drill team/patrol/etc.) and then the class photos in the MPR on 4/29.  Please make sure to line student’s tallest to shortest to speed up the process.  Teachers keep photo envelopes and give to photographer, they do not get sent to office, unless it is the day after photos.  We will send in late orders on 5/1.

Volunteer Week

We will be celebrating our Volunteers the week of 4/21.  A candy/goodie bar will be set-up in the staff workroom so volunteers can help themselves throughout the week to treats.  On Wednesday, we will host a coffee in the staff lounge.  Coffee and donuts/muffins will be provided.  If you would like to bring a treat for the event, that would be great.  It would be even better if you could stop by for a few minutes to visit with them.

Shelter in Place

Drill to happen soon…Procedure reminders:

1.   Teachers will turn off lights and lock the door upon exiting the classroom. Do not stop to pick up personal items. Teachers bring their Staff Handbooks and Emergency Folders with their classes to the gymnasium

2.   Building administrator will inspect the building to ensure that all students, staff, and visitors are inside their designated area.

3.   Once EVERYONE is accounted for the staff will take on their roles defined below:

·       Security Team – Lock all outside doors.

·       Utilities Team – Shut down all heating and ventilation systems.

·       First Aid/Medical Team – Retrieve any necessary medications and supplies from the health room.

·       Student Accounting/Release Team – Install plastic and duct tape around all designated doors to the gym, and windows in the hallways.

·       All Other Staff – Supervise students.

4.   The school will remain at Shelter in Place until the word is given by administration to leave.

Take your child to work day

Please remember that any student that is participating in TYCTWD must have a signed form or note from parent on or before the day.  In addition, these absences do count as an absence.  Please send forms to the office as soon as you get them.  Forms were in April newsletter.

Student of the Month

Names and reasons due to Barb by 12:00 Friday, 4/25.

Reminder for SUB Binders

If you haven’t already done so, please put a reminder in your Substitute Binder that before the substitute leaves the parent pick-up area they need to make sure Mrs. Nix’s is aware of students being left with her.

Inventory

All student textbooks will need to be placed out on desks and/or tables, face down, (we need to have the barcodes facing up and books laid out, not stacked on top of each other please).  This includes books purchased with title funds, Read Well, CMP, etc., everything except consumables.  For Read Well and CMP, we understand these may be stacked on each other or in bins, and these can be left that way.

If students have textbooks at home, these need to be brought back to the school for the scheduled inventory date in order to be accounted for in the inventory process.  Please remind students and/or parents that we need all textbooks at the school at the time of inventory.

All teacher materials, including Journeys and social studies teacher books and manuals, leveled reader bins, Number Corner bins, Bridges boxes, Read Well boxes, and CMP teacher manuals need to be laid out as above please.  We do not need Bridges teacher manuals or Read Well teacher manuals laid out since the barcodes are on the boxes, (unless you have been sent these manuals separately and they are barcoded individually).

Please ensure that you have all of the above requested materials out and not tucked away in cupboards, boxes, folders, etc.

All materials need to be laid out by 3:30 on April 22, 2014.  Your time and effort spent preparing your classroom/school for this inventory process is very much appreciated.

Activities

Just another friendly reminder to always give a copy of permission slips, invites to activities, and any other correspondence you send with students so that the office is informed of what’s happening at our school.  Parents frequently call to get times/dates of events.
