Professional Development for Science Adoption

Elementary classroom teachers must sign up for one of the following two science implementation professional development options on the professional development website before they leave for the summer:

Report Cards

When you have completed corrections or are ready for final printing, please email Barb.  They will be printed on Wednesday and placed in your box.  They cannot be handed out before Thursday.  Any report cards that are not picked up that day will be mailed to the parent/guardian of the student.  Please turn in to the office in an addressed envelope.  Only report card will be mailed.

Staff Lounge

Group effort to clean before we leave for the summer.  Please make sure that you have removed any of your items from the refrigerator and cleaned up after yourself.  All items will be tossed.

Lost and Found

Please remind students and parents that it will be donated after school year has ended.

Activities

Remember, parents call the office frequently to request information about activities in the classroom or after school.  Please keep the office informed.

OBSOLETE Materials

If you find that you have obsolete materials, please request the process so it can be boxed correctly for summer pick-up.

Grade Books

Please condense as much as possible and put in the box labeled Grade Books on the counter in the main office.

Newsletters

Please make sure to include in your newsletters that we will not serve breakfast or lunch on the last day of school and it’s a 12:01 dismissal time.

Also, SACK lunches is the only thing being served for lunch on Friday, June 13th.

Field Day

Assignments will be handed prior to the beginning of activities.  Please inquire if you have questions or restrictions.  Please help spread the word about sack lunches only for lunch that day.

Laptop Rollout

Many of you are scheduled to receive your new laptop in June as well as have the opportunity to attend a training session to learn how to use your new laptop, Windows 8.1 and our new virtual environment for certain applications. Training sessions are all on the Professional Development website. Please sign up there.

If you are moving schools next year, you will receive your laptop and attend training based with your current building. Our distribution has been planned based on current assignment.

There are two short video series on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 What’s New on Atomic Learning. These are very helpful to getting oriented to working in this new Windows environment which is quite different from your old Windows 7 computer.

Important Note: For those of you receiving your laptop at your building, your training session will usually be the next day. You will be well-served to make sure your new laptop is plugged in overnight so you come to training with it fully charged.

Backing Up Your Data

For those receiving their laptops prior to the end of school, you have the option of keeping your old laptop to get through the end of the year. However you may turn in your old laptop if you wish. For those receiving laptops after the end of school, you are expected to turn your laptop in. The following information regarding backing up your data is important before you turn in your old laptop.

These resources are provided to ease the transition to your new laptop. We encourage you to view the Windows 8 Atomic Learning video series prior to attending the training session.

Report Cards

Below is the timeline for the end of the year report cards.  These dates are based on the dates used for the March report cards.

Report Cards due to Principals – Friday, June 13

Changes to Teachers – Tuesday, June 17

Print Report Cards – Wednesday, June 18

Report Cards go home – Thursday, June 19

Guidelines for Elementary Report Card Comments

1.   The definition of a report card comment is a minimum of 1 to 2 sentences.

2.   When a student receives a 1, 2, or N as a mark for any grading period, a comment is required to explain why the student received the mark.

3.   When a student receives a 3 or a 4 as a mark for any grading period, a comment is encouraged, but not required.

4.   Every student will receive at least two comments for the final grading period regardless of the marks received.

5.   Requirements including timelines for the reading of report cards by principals must be consistent across the district.

Music and Physical Education teachers at the elementary level can add free text comments to report cards in Teacher Access Center for their students themselves. Music and Fitness teachers no longer have to send free text comments to the classroom teacher for entry into TAC
