2nd Annual
Puyallup Festival of Books
Sammy Keyes Goodbye
Party with author Wendelin Van Draanen, Saturday, October 4th , 7 pm, Liberty
Theater, 116 W. Main, Puyallup
The Puyallup Public
Library and Puyallup School District are excited to partner on the 2nd Annual
Puyallup Festival of Books. On Saturday, October 4th, we will welcome author
Wendelin Van Draanen as we celebrate the conclusion of her Sammy Keyes mystery
series, with the publication of Sammy Keyes and the Kiss Goodbye, the 18th and
final book in the series.
Every student who
comes to the party will receive a pair of shoelaces with the titles of all of
the Sammy Keyes books printed on them. We will have catering with food
prominently mentioned in the Sammy Keyes books, including God-like Macaroni and
Cheese with Salsa. The program will include an interview with Wendelin by
Walter, the Giant Storyteller.
For more information
contact the Puyallup Public Library or visit the Spinning Library Services page
on the Spinning website.

to have IXL available to all of our K-6 students this year.

EDLINE Suggestions
Taken from How to
Market Your School: A Guide to Marketing, Communication, and Public Relations
for School Administrators
by Johanna Lockhart pages
141-142
E-mail messages face
the same obstacles as other communication pieces. They have to compete for the
time, attention, and interest of the receiver. Use these suggestions to make
the school's e-mail messages reader friendly.
Include graphics
(sparingly). A picture may be worth a thousand words, but not if it takes too
long to display or overwhelms the message. Graphics can be invaluable in an
e-mail. Most e-mail systems now have the ability to read messages in an HTML
format. Make sure that the graphic is relevant to the message or the school.
Also check the layout between graphics and text in the message by sending a
version to yourself.
Keep your message
short. While e-mail is becoming a larger part of people's daily business and
personal lives, they still do not expect the body of the text to contain the
same amount of information that might be sent via fax or mail. It is better to
create a large document in another format and attach it. As an attachment it is
more likely to be read than a multi-page e-mail.
Link to the school website.
Encourage users to click on a link that will take them to the school website
where you have the space and ability to present them with more information.
This also allows the school to track the number of users that come to the
website from a link in e-mails.
Test the message
before broadcasting it. To confirm that the format of any e-mail the school is
planning to send to a broad audience looks acceptable, and to ensure that the
e-mail will not get trapped by spam filters, test it by sending it to members
of the team.
Help to
get the word out to parents…
