Operation Suds

Operation Suds is a self-administered interactive program that was developed to help educators teach children about the need for hand washing. The program is designed for children grades K through 6 and all necessary materials are available for check out to local residents through the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.

The program consists of a brief discussion about the importance of hand washing, a short animated video and a special blacklight activity designed to test each student's hand washing ability. Additionally, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department can provide hand washing related materials for educators to help reinforce the message in the classroom.

By participating in Operation Suds students will learn about:
  • What germs are
  • Where germs hide
  • When to wash hands
  • How to wash hands
The program takes approximately 45 minutes per class to complete depending on the size of each group

We have participated the last two year and are willing to provide this opportunity if teachers are interested.  Please respond to Barb by March 6th if you are interested in this program so we can request if for our school.

Parent Activation of Edline

To assist you in encouraging more parents to activate their accounts, a brief instructional video has been created and will be posted on each school’s website. We have a very low number of parents and students that have activated accounts.  Please include in your newsletter and encourage students to have parents do this important step.

Family Lists

Please remember that we use the family list to send home “Kid Mail” with the youngest student in the family.  We save over 75 copies each time we have a publication printed and sent this way.  Over 300 pages of paper were saved during the publication of the recent newsletter.

Computer Rolling Lab

Remember this valuable tool is available for check out via the main office.  If you haven’t had a chance, sign up now.

Volunteers and Guests

Please remember, ALL volunteers and guests must sign in at the front office and wear a badge.

Copier

Please remember that when the copier gets jammed or shows a message on the screen that you should let Barb or Robyn be aware.

Students sent to office

Please remember that students need to be sent with a pass when coming to the office. If they are being sent for specific reasons, a phone call or note should occur.

Forks

We had a good amount of metal forks in the staff lounge and now there are zero.  If you have extras you’d like to donate, please send, or if you have some laying around, they can be returned, no questions asked.

Food Service

Did you know that you can order from the menu posted(sandwiches, wraps, salads) in the staff lounge each day from Food Services?  Just call 8859 before 8:30 and let them know who you are and what you’d like to order.
