Print Report Cards – Wednesday, June 18

Guidelines for Elementary Report Card Comments

1.   The definition of a report card comment is a minimum of 1 to 2 sentences.

2.   When a student receives a 1, 2, or N as a mark for any grading period, a comment is required to explain why the student received the mark.

3.   When a student receives a 3 or a 4 as a mark for any grading period, a comment is encouraged, but not required.

4.   Every student will receive at least two comments for the final grading period regardless of the marks received.

5.   Requirements including timelines for the reading of report cards by principals must be consistent across the district.

Music and Physical Education teachers at the elementary level can add free text comments to report cards in Teacher Access Center for their students themselves. Music and Fitness teachers no longer have to send free text comments to the classroom teacher for entry into TAC

Pro-Dev and Clock Hours

Please make sure you have registered on the website for your clock hours.  You will only get verified for the sessions you have registered for even if you signed in on paper, you MUST register on PRO-DEV site for verification.

Tardy slips and Lunch Tickets

When a student arrives late, we will be giving them a green ticket for lunch (replaces the pink) as they will automatically get choice for their lunch option if they are hot lunch.  This will save a step and hopefully alleviate shortages.

Dress Code

Please remember to reinforce the PSD dress code that can be found in the handbook.  Extra clothing is available in the nurse’s office if needed.

Textbook Accountability Notification

As we move into a new era of textbook accountability, here are important end of the year steps to follow regarding textbook inventory, lost instructional materials, notification, and bookkeeping.

1.    Teachers need to give librarians a list of textbooks that have not been returned by students by June 6, 2014 (Tuesday). Librarians will then need to mark the textbook as lost in Destiny for a fine to be assessed by June 12 (Thursday). Librarians will provide each student who has not returned instructional materials with a Destiny notice listing the lost item(s) and potential fine if not returned by June 12 (Thursday).

2.   While we want all students to return ‘lost’ or missing items to their school prior to June 19, the drop dead date for students to be able to return items without being assessed a fine is Tuesday, July 15.

3.   On June 13, parents of any student still listed as missing a textbook or other instructional item will receive an email through Destiny with the following message:

·       “The last date students can return items without being assessed a fine is Tuesday, July 15. Your child is currently listed as owing a fine for a textbook or other instructional item. Please return the missing item to your child’s school by June 19.

·       After June 19, students can return instructional materials to ESC, 302 2nd St SE,

4.   After July 31, all Destiny missing items will be changed to fines and migrated to the eSchoolsPlus student files. From there, office managers and librarians can access those who owe fines. Until July 31, office managers will need to check both eSchool and Destiny for fines and apply paid fines in Destiny.

Retiring or Transferring to new school

·       All District purchased instructional materials in your classroom are to remain at the school where they are currently located. Materials are not to be moved to a new school. All instructional materials are inventoried for the school they are in and need to remain in the school for the teacher who will be coming into your class when you leave.

·       All barcoded teacher materials in your classroom will need to be checked in via Destiny to ensure everything is accounted for in order to transfer to the new teacher. Student materials do not need to be checked in.

·       If you are a K-5 teacher you will need to inventory your Bridges/Number Corner kit to identify any missing items to be replaced.

·       If you are a K-1 teacher you will need to inventory your Read Well kits to ensure all items in the kits are accounted for.

·       Once teachers have completed their inventory, they are to contact Lori Miller (Textbook & Media Center Secretary) and request items that are missing in their inventory.

Moving Grade Levels (within the same building)

·       Teacher materials at your new grade level will need to be checked out to you via Destiny.

·       If you have any questions about these procedures, please contact Lori Miller, Sue Andre, or myself.
